How old is the Town of Silverthorne?
Incorporated on September 5, 1967, Silverthorne turned 40 in 2007.

How did Silverthorne get its name?
From Judge Marshal Silverthorn. In 1881 Judge Silverthorn staked his gold mining claim, the Silverthorn Placer, along the Blue River where Silverthorne is now located. The “e” was added to the name in the 1930’s because it was considered fashionable and chic.

Who built Town Hall? When was it built?
Town Hall was built in 1987; the architects were Dokken / Crowe. The police wing was expanded in 1992.

Where is the Silverthorne Post Office?
At the corner of Fourth Street and Brian Avenue.

Where are the Summit County Offices? They’re located in Breckenridge and Frisco. Offices for the Assessor, Clerk & Recorder, Treasurer, Finance and Commissioners are located at 208 East Lincoln Avenue (one block east of Main St.) in Breckenridge. Offices for most other services (Community Development, Building, Motor Vehicle, Driver’s License and Human Services) are in the County Commons building in Frisco, just off Hwy 9.
