Mission Statement
The mission of the Silverthorne Police Department is to enhance the quality of life within the Town by working closely with citizens in the development and delivery of professional police services.
Community Policing
The Silverthorne Police Department is committed to community policing principles. This approach to law enforcement seeks to reduce crime, fear of crime, and public disorder through problem solving strategies and police-community partnership. A fundamental shift from traditional reactive policing,
community policing seeks to prevent crime before it occurs.
Employees are trained in problem solving, crime prevention, and proactive analysis of safety issues affecting our community. There are many
community policing programs currently in place within the town, which were implemented as a direct result of
problems identified.
Awards and Certifications
The Silverthorne Police Department prides itself in being an
accredited police agency through the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP).
The CACP has awarded Silverthorne with both its
Pioneer Policing Award for innovation and
the American Spirit Award for excellence of service.
The department was the recipient of the
2002 Community Policing Award given by the International Association of Chief's
of Police and ITT Industries Night Vision. For this particular award, we were selected from more than
84 departments worldwide.
