PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT - Water & Sewer

Chris
Gene
Karl
The department maintains the Town water system and sewage transmission line. Water is provided by the Town of Silverthorne through a system of wells, storage tanks and distribution lines. The Town system consists of six wells, four of which produce 300 gallons per minute and two located in Eagles Nest each provide 450 gallons per minute. The Town owns four water storage tanks, three of which are presently in service. All four tanks are located underground and provide total storage capacity of 1.85 million gallons. The Town's water system is on three pressure zones; the base zone serves most of the Town, and the second and third zone serves portions of Willow Creek Highlands and Eagles Nest/Three Peaks. The existing base pressure zone allows for development up to an elevation of 8,880 feet. The second zone provides service on the west side up to 9,080 elevations.

PROGRAM POLICIES

  • The Town's Comprehensive Plan states that the policy of the Town is to provide a high quality water distribution and treatment system that exceeds local standards and meets the future needs of the community. The Town will continue to strive toward conservation of the community's water resources through policies in Town development ordinances.
  • The Town's Financial Policies direct the Town to develop an Asset Management Plan, a plan which identifies how the Town will protect its capital investment and minimizes the future maintenance and replacement costs. The Town will maintain accurate information on the condition, life span, usage and replacement cost of their capital assets to assist in long term planning.
