Athletics - Adult Sports - Basketball - 4 on 4 Adult Basketball League Rules
- Games begin with a coin toss. The winning team gets to choose whether they get the ball to start the first half or the second half.
- Games will consist of 2 - 20 minute halves. The clock will be running time until the last two minutes of the game. During the last two minutes of the second half, the clock will stop on all whistles. (If a team holds a lead of more than 10 points during the last two minutes, the clock will NOT stop on whistles. Except when a team calls for a time out, the clock will stop.)
- There may be a 5-minute half time.
- Each team has two time outs per half. Time outs are not cumulative from one half to the other.
- Substitutes must check in at the score table and wait until referee calls them in.
- In a jump ball situation there will be alternating possessions, not to be extended each half.
- Overtime is 3 minute stopped time with one time out to each team.
- There will be a jump ball to begin all overtime periods.
- Three point goals are in effect.
- Free throw rule: all players must wait until the ball has hit something, rim backboard, net or floor.
- Teams will shoot the penalty shot on the 7th foul.
- Two shots are awarded on the 10th team foul per half.
- Technical Foul:
- automatic 2 points plus ball possession at half court
- all technical fouls are personal fouls and count towards team fouls
- Unsportsmanlike Technical Foul:
- players removed from the game for 3 minutes to cool off
- player may only enter the game by checking in with the scorer's table during a dead ball situation
- if any team accumulates three unsportsmanlike technical fouls during one game, that game will be forfeited
- Ejection From Game:
- player receives two unsportsmanlike technical fouls
- player exhibits verbal or physical abuse towards any official, player, spectator, or employee
- any player who is ejected from a game will sit out the rest of the game plus a minimum of the next game
- ejected players must leave the gym immediately
- Ejection From League: three unsportsmanlike technical fouls by a player in one season will result in suspension for remaining league games and tournament - no refunds
- All other rules will follow current Federation Rules if not mentioned above.
Coaches and managers are responsible for explanations, information, conduct of their team players, and enforcement of all league rules and policies for their team and all its players.
