November First Friday Dia de los Muertos Celebration

Dia de los Muertos CelebrationJoin the Town of Silverthorne in honoring and celebrating Día de los Muertos and the vibrant Latine community of Summit County during November First Friday on Friday, Nov. 7, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Created in partnership with local community members, this event highlights the traditions and meaning of Día de los Muertos while promoting cultural understanding and diversity in Silverthorne. Día de los Muertos is a joyful time when the living and deceased come together to celebrate life in every form. This is not a somber holiday, but one of revelry and remembrance.

The Town of Silverthorne is proud to partner and collect donations for Mountain Dreamers at November First Friday. Attendees are encouraged to bring a donation, no matter how small or large. All contributions and a portion of event proceeds will benefit Mountain Dreamers, supporting their work in the community.

Enjoy face painting, live music by Mariachi Las Dahlias, baile folklorico dancing, a local mercado, crafts for kids, and a piñata, along with delicious food from La Perla and traditional treats like Champurrado, Pan de Muerto and more. Other vendors include Smart Bellies, FIRC, Minimal Impact, Carman Lamar (Homemade goods), Summit Health Leaders and The Cycle Effect.

Community Altar and Ofrenda

In the days leading up to the celebration, a community altar and ofrenda built by artist Santiago Vera will be on display at the Art Spot Silverthorne Makerspace from Oct. 31 through Nov. 6. Community members are invited to visit and contribute to the altar.

On Monday, Nov. 3, the Art Spot will host a special Día de los Muertos art workshop, where participants will learn about the meaning and traditions behind Día de los Muertos while creating papel picado and handmade picture frames to honor loved ones who have passed. On Friday, Nov. 7, the community altar will be moved to the Silverthorne Pavilion as part of the Día de los Muertos celebration.
