February First Friday - Noche de Candela
Night of Light
- Date: 02/07/2020 5:00 PM - 8:30 PM
- Location: Silverthorne Pavilion
400 Blue River Parkway
Silverthorne, Colorado 80498
Out of an abundance of safety for our community members, with the continued heavy snow, strong winds and poor road conditions, the Town of Silverthorne’s February First Friday event, Noche de Candela, has been canceled. Snow is expected to continue falling throughout the day, which will include strong winds creating blowing and drifting snow. Travel could be very difficult to impossible as blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. We are working on rescheduling this event in the future but do not have dates or details at this time. Please stay tuned to Silverthorne.org in the future for more information.
Celebrate a night of light with wish lanterns on the Blue River. Warm up the night with Salsa Dance instruction and music from Salsa band Remezcla. Tacos will be available for purchase from Carniceria La Perla and free dessert will be provided by Panaderia La Escondida.
Noche de Candela represents the search for light between the winter solstice and the spring equinox across a variety of cultures. The search for light and wish lanterns represent the beginning sparks of spring and a way to welcome the new year with dance, rhythm, friends and light. Write your wishes and dreams on a lantern and watch them flow down the river to create your own light and new beginning for the coming seasons.
- 5 to 6 p.m. - Salsa Dance Instruction
- 5 to 6:45 p.m. - Build your lantern
- 6 to 8:30 p.m. - Music from Salsa band Remezcla
- 7 p.m. - Wish lanterns float down the Blue River (best viewed from Pavilion or Outlets bridge)
All wish lanterns will be collected and removed from the Blue River shortly after their launch to protect the Blue River.
The premiere of Silverthorne Stories, an interactive storytelling project, will be debuted at the February First Friday! Watch this short film and see how our differences bring us together as a community.
