Join the Town of Silverthorne for a local film fest on October First Friday. Head to the Silverthorne Pavilion on Friday, Oct. 2 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for live music, crafts, and an hour of short films by local filmmakers. The films range from adventure to uplifting stories about the strength of staying positive in the face of adversity. Attendees will be asked to vote for their favorite films at the end of the showcase.

First Friday Tips

• Walk, ride your bike, carpool or take the free Summit Stage to First Friday, as parking is limited.
• Bring your reusable First Friday cup for $1 off beer or wine.
• Drink responsibly and designate a sober driver.
• No outside alcohol is permitted at First Friday events.

Project Summary

October First Friday’s local film festival is back, and we want to see your stories on screen! The Town of Silverthorne is looking for local filmmakers to show off their work and films during October First Friday. Whether you’re a seasoned filmmaker or just beginning your film journey, this is a chance to show the community your hard work, connect with other creatives, and engage with a passionate local audience.

Silverthorne’s First Friday events are community-oriented events held on the First Friday of each month. These events seek to build a sense of community in Silverthorne while also supporting local creators, artists, and businesses. The October First Friday Film Fest will be held on Friday, Oct. 2 at the Silverthorne Pavilion and the event will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Film Specifics

Films should be 3-5 minutes long and will be shown on a large projector at 1080p quality. The films should possess a theme related to Silverthorne, Summit County, or life in the mountains. Submitted films may be of any variety, including action sports, fiction, nature, music video or more. They should be family appropriate and should not possess profanity or other inappropriate subjects. Longer films may be considered based on the professional quality of production.

Awards and Recognition

All films will be entered to win a people’s choice award for a cash prize of $300 dollars for the fan favorite film. Votes will be tallied after the event. 

Application Requirements

Filmmakers are required to submit at least one and no more than five individual films for consideration. Films may be submitted to Aubrey Andresen, Events Coordinator, at aandresen@silverthorne.org. Please include the following items in the email:

• Your name/company name
• Film name
• Film description
• Link to film or Dropbox or other file-sharing services may be used to submit films

Criteria used to select films include, but are not limited to, theme of subject, aesthetic quality, editing, broad-based interest and appeal for all ages, and quality of filmmakers’ work.

Eligibility

The Town of Silverthorne is seeking filmmakers located in mountain communities who are excited to have their work shown to the public.

Rules and Terms to Apply

Films will be subject to screening by the Silverthorne Events Committee. The Events Committee will select the final films to be shown during the event. Selected participants will be notified on September 25.

Films may not contain advertising, logos, or copyrighted images. Political, commercial, religious, or sexual themes will not be considered.
