A favorite pastime, walking along the vibrant Blue River Trail, now features large-scale murals dedicated to celebrating Silverthorne. During the Town's free First Friday event in August, eight local artists transformed large, double-sided panels into mini murals that span the Blue River Trail, featuring beautiful naturescapes that nod to Silverthorne's outdoor lifestyle to depictions of community pride.

The mini mural project stemmed from Silverthorne's Art Board's desire to refresh the older public art panels along the Blue River Trail. The new collection was also intricately tied to the community, from garnering audience participation at First Friday events to the themes centered on community celebrations.

"We wanted to create a shared experience for our community members and the talented local artists that call Summit County home," said Art Spot coordinator Mallory Gemlo. "By showing the technical process behind the murals, attendees were able to make more of a connection to the art."

Each artist was asked to save the last 10% of their creations to complete live at the August First Friday Block Party. During the free event, attendees were able to talk and interact with the artists to learn more about the mural-making process.

Local artists Anna Benson, Nancy Branca, Erika Donaghy, Aimee Kuiper, Clay Lint, Andrea Slusarski, Kelly Triolo and Natalie Wurmel were tasked with crafting a mini mural on one side of a 4-foot-by-8-foot panel. Using acrylic or spray paint, the artists followed a "visual love letter" theme, celebrating the many facets of Silverthorne's day-to-day life that make it extraordinary. 

After the Block Party, the panels were displayed outside the Silverthorne Pavilion during the "Future Town" event. The event's theme was "living eulogies," celebrating life in the moment—what is here now and what makes Silverthorne special. The artists' work also followed the theme, and they were encouraged to create murals that represented their reflections of the town.

Across all the panels, Silverthorne's connection to nature was evident. Snowcapped mountains, evergreen trees, the Blue River, and wildflowers are prevalent in the murals, with a wide variety of color palettes. Both tranquil and peaceful scenes are depicted, as well as bright, actionable visuals such as snowboarding or fishing. Bold, beautiful, eye-catching and relaxing – each mural captures a feeling viewers are sure to understand upon viewing.

The colorful installation can now be seen in four areas along the Blue River Trail, as listed below. The placements complement Silverthorne's existing Walking Art Tour, furthering the town's mission to be a place where art meets adventure.

El Mini Mural Fest Ya está en Exhibición

Un pasatiempo popular, caminar por el vibrante Sendero del Blue River, ahora cuenta con murales a gran escala dedicados a Silverthorne. Durante el evento gratuito del Primer Viernes de agosto, ocho artistas locales transformaron grandes paneles de doble cara en mini murales que abarcan el Sendero del Blue River, presentando hermosos paisajes naturales que evocan la vida al aire libre de Silverthorne y representaciones del orgullo comunitario.

El proyecto del minimural surgió del deseo de la Junta de Arte de Silverthorne de renovar los antiguos paneles de arte público a lo largo del Sendero del Blue River. La nueva colección también estaba estrechamente vinculada a la comunidad, desde la participación del público en los eventos del Primer Viernes hasta los temas centrados en las celebraciones comunitarias.

"Queríamos crear una experiencia compartida para los miembros de nuestra comunidad y los talentosos artistas locales que consideran el condado de Summit su hogar", dijo Mallory Gemlo, coordinadora de Art Spot. "Al mostrar el proceso técnico detrás de los murales, los asistentes pudieron conectar más con el arte".

Se pidió a cada artista que guardara el último 10% de sus creaciones para completarlas en vivo en la Fiesta del Primer Viernes de Agosto. Durante el evento gratuito, los asistentes pudieron conversar e interactuar con los artistas para aprender más sobre el proceso de creación de los murales.

Las artistas locales Anna Benson, Nancy Branca, Erika Donaghy, Aimee Kuiper, Clay Lint, Andrea Slusarski, Kelly Triolo y Natalie Wurmel se encargaron de crear un mini mural en una cara de un panel de 1,2 x 2,4 metros. Utilizando pintura acrílica o en aerosol, las artistas siguieron la temática de una "carta de amor visual", celebrando las múltiples facetas de la vida cotidiana de Silverthorne que la hacen extraordinaria.

Tras la Fiesta del Barrio, los paneles se exhibieron en el exterior del  Silverthorne Pavilion durante el evento "Future Town". El tema del evento fue "elogios vivientes", celebrando la vida en el momento presente: lo que está aquí y lo que hace especial a Silverthorne. El trabajo de los artistas también siguió este tema, y se les animó a crear murales que representaran su reflejo de la ciudad.

En todos los paneles, la conexión de Silverthorne con la naturaleza era evidente. Montañas nevadas, árboles de hoja perenne, el Blue River y flores silvestres predominan en los murales, con una amplia variedad de paletas de colores. Se representan escenas tranquilas y apacibles, así como imágenes vibrantes y prácticas, como el snowboard o la pesca. Audaces, hermosos, llamativos y relajantes, cada mural captura una sensación que los espectadores comprenderán al verlo.

La colorida instalación ya se puede ver en cuatro zonas del Sendero del Blue River, como se indica a continuación. Estas ubicaciones complementan el actual Recorrido Artístico a Pie de Silverthorne, lo que refuerza la misión del municipio de ser un lugar donde el arte se fusiona con la aventura.
