North Pond Park: The Town of Silverthorne North Pond Park Ice Rink is officially open for the season! North Pond Park is located directly across the street from the Silverthorne Elementary School at Hamilton Creek Road and Highway 9.
FREE amenities include a warming hut, restrooms, parking, and access to the best true pond skating in Summit County. Bring your own skates, hot chocolate, and hockey sticks and play all day. Non-skaters can view the rink while staying warm inside the heated warming hut or relax on the dock while watching the fun. Skating is available from dawn to dusk and the warming hut is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Upcoming events at North Pond include Twilight Skate January 21, complete with warm chili and moon pies around the fire pit from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on January 29; and the Colorado Pond Hockey Tournament on the weekend of February 17 – 19.
The North Pond ice is plowed and maintained by Silverthorne’s Public Works Department as time allows, with street and sidewalk maintenance being the Town’s first priority.
Rainbow Park: The Rainbow Park Tot Lot, adjacent to the Recreation Center at 400 Rainbow Drive, offers the finest in sledding steeps and mountain views. The park is open dawn till dusk in white out blizzards and on blue bird days! No professional maintenance here, recreational jumps and paths are built by sledders young and young at heart!
FREE amenities include two covered pavilions with charcoal grill access, restrooms parking and access to all-day fun outside.
Nordic Center at The Raven: Located at the Raven Golf Course, 2929 Golden Eagle Road, trails for Cross Country Skiing and Snow Shoeing are available December through March, as weather allows. The Raven is hoping to be open Christmas weekend! Trails are maintained by golf course maintenance several times per week.
FREE amenities include two courses with spectacular views. North Course – more challenging terrain with plenty of changes in elevation. South Course – best for beginners, flatter with a variety of twists and turns. No dogs or motorized vehicles, please. Courses are open from Sunrise to Sunset seven days a week. Courses are not swept at day’s end, so users are urged to stay with a friend and carry a cell phone.
NEW THIS YEAR – the Raven Clubhouse will be open on weekends through March 15, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. featuring a complimentary beverage station with coffee, instant latte, hot chocolate, hot tea and water. Sodas, Gatorade, beer as well as some “take-along” snacks – Kind bar, Nature Valley bar, trail mix and chips – will be available for purchase. Management plans to add hot soup and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches to the menu.
