This summer, stop by the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center to see the artwork of Colorado artist Jennifer Keelan. Jennifer's paintings are filled with old houses, barns, mountain landscapes, and the beauty of each season. She hopes her artwork brings back happy memories and helps people slow down and enjoy nature.

"I want visitors to feel nostalgia," Jennifer says. "I hope they remember old homes and neighborhoods from their childhood. I also want them to experience the feeling of each season—from the buzzing bees of summer to the colorful leaves of fall and the quiet chill of winter."

The changing seasons inspire her artwork, and she enjoys painting what she sees and feels throughout the year. "I love to paint each season as I experience it," she says. "The colors, the fresh air, and the peaceful feeling of nature all inspire me."

Her time visiting family in cozy homes when she was young and later living on a ranch in Montana inspired her to paint houses, barns, and wide-open spaces. Jennifer also adds special layers to her paintings using old magazines, maps, wallpaper, and other vintage papers. If you look closely, you may spot small surprises hidden beneath the paint.

"It's fun when people find something they remember in my paintings," she says

Living in Summit County has also inspired Jennifer's work. Colorado's mountain towns, historic buildings, and beautiful landscapes fit the stories she loves to tell through her art.

Jennifer is excited to share her collection at the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center. "It is a wonderful place that celebrates the arts," she says. "Bringing visual art and performing arts together helps strengthen our arts community."

Jennifer hopes visitors will take their time looking at each painting in the exhibit. "I hope people get lost in the artwork," she says. "I want them to discover something new each time they look."

Her favorite painting in the exhibit is Spring Flowers. Jennifer says she would love to spend a day inside that colorful garden, relaxing in the sunshine with a glass of lemonade.

Jennifer's artwork is also available for sale at the Art Spot Silverthorne Makerspace, including handmade earrings, unique house sculptures, and other original pieces. Jennifer Keelan's artwork is on display in the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center through the end of September.
