Construction Impacts

Indoor Track: The indoor track is closed to running and walking during construction. Part of the track is available to access cardio and circuit equipment, and for patrons to use while stretching, etc.
Kid's Korner: Kid’s Korner has been temporarily relocated to the Silverthorne Recreation Center lobby. Please note that this is not a general lobby play area, but a dedicated space for Kid’s Korner programming while the recreation center expansion project is under construction.
Rainbow Park Access: Rainbow Park may be accessed via Rainbow Drive, the front parking lot of the Silverthorne Recreation Center, or the Rainbow Park parking lot off Rainbow Drive. Parking behind the Recreation Center for direct access to the Rainbow Park tot lot and volleyball courts will be closed during construction.

Expansion Highlights

The Silverthorne Recreation Center expansion project is the culmination of extensive planning efforts aimed at enhancing the existing facility with a 24,000-square-foot addition designed to meet the evolving recreational needs of the community. This expansion reflects Silverthorne’s ongoing commitment to fostering a vibrant, active lifestyle for residents and visitors, ensuring the Recreation Center continues to serve as a central hub for health, wellness, and community engagement.

Funding

The Recreation Center Expansion Project is funded by the Town of Silverthorne's 8% lodging tax.

Construction Timing

Construction will take place from Spring 2025 to Fall 2026.

Weight Rooms

The Silverthorne Recreation Center expansion is adding 1,440 square feet of weight room space. In addition to the added weight room space, Weight Room 1 is being redesigned with north-facing windows overlooking Rainbow Park for enhanced natural light and an improved experience. Both weight rooms will feature a new improved layout with additional equipment.

Multipurpose Rooms

Multipurpose Room 1 The Silverthorne Recreation Center expansion will feature two new multipurpose rooms for an additional 2,500 square feet of programming and rental space. These new rooms will help meet increased demand for fitness classes and allow the Recreation Center to add more fitness and leisure programs and provide room rentals to our community.

Existing Aerobics Room and Upstairs Multipurpose Room

These rooms will be primarily used for fitness classes and dance classes.

Two New Multipurpose Rooms

The two new multipurpose rooms will be used for after-school programs, toddler programs, and community programs such as CPR classes, cooking classes and more. The two new multipurpose rooms will also be available for the community to rent for meetings, parties or other events.

Multi Activity Court Gym

The multi-activity court gymnasium (MAC Gym) will provide an additional 12,000 square feet of recreational space. The MAC Gym will create a dedicated home for the Silverthorne Storm Gymnastics team and related gymnastics programs, as well as a brand-new auxiliary gymnasium. By creating a dedicated gymnastics space, as well as an additional auxiliary gymnasium, the Recreation Center's existing gymnasium space will be more available for open gym time, court sports, drop-in recreation and new youth and adult sport leagues.

Gymnastics Space in the MAC Gym The 12,000 square foot MAC gym will greatly expand the Silverthorne Recreation Center's capacity and allow for more enhanced and diverse recreational and sports programming.

In addition, the expansion will add a viewing lounge overlooking the MAC gym for familes and friends to watch games and gymnastics.

Licensed School-Age Camps

Licensed School-Aged Camp Space The Silverthorne Recreation Center's expansion will include 2,370 square feet of space for licensed school-age camps. This dedicated space will be the first-of-its-kind for Silverthorne families, providing:

After school care
All day care from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday during summer break and on days when school is not in session
Transportation from Silverthorne Elementary School
For ages 5 to 12 years old

This licensed camp will provide children with a safe, reliable and licensed care option when they are not in school, supporting working families and enhancing the community in Silverthorne.

How is this different from your current Recreation Center childcare, Kids Korner?

Kids Korner provides childcare for kids ages 6 months to 6 years old. Kids may be at Kids Korner for a maximum of two hours per visit and parents must be on site in the Recreation Center.

How is this different from your current after school programs?

The Silverthorne Recreation Center offers year-round specialized session-based programs. These programs may focus on a specific sport or recreational activity like cooking or snow science. Specialized programs are also typically designed for a specific age group or skill level, such as swim lessons or gymnastics. These programs will continue to be offered to develop skills and childhood interersts, but do not provide the all day care or after school care that many families need.
