Silverthorne Phase 3 Water Restrictions
Silverthorne is in Phase 3 Water Restrictions, effective May 28, 2026. Phase 3 Water Restrictions are mandatory.
Town Staff and the Silverthorne Town Council are announcing these measures in response to the exceptional drought conditions affecting Summit County, the state of Colorado, and the western half of the United States. Water users must reduce their daily water use through mandatory Phase 3 Water Restrictions to protect the water resources currently available in our community.
Phase 3 Water Restrictions
- Lawns: No person should irrigate, sprinkle, or otherwise apply water to lawns except during the following days and times:
- Zone 1 – Last whole number in address is even – Tuesday, Saturday overnight, 6 p.m. to 9 a.m.
- Zone 2 – Last whole number in address is odd – Sunday, Wednesday overnight 6 p.m. to 9 a.m.
- Decorative flowers, plants, bushes, and trees may be watered at any time if watering is done by drip irrigation, by hand with a watering can, or with a hose that has an automatic shut-off valve.
- Paved areas, structures, motor vehicles, or boats may only be washed using a hose with an automatic shut-off valve .
Phase 3 Water Restrictions apply to all property and land within the Town of Silverthorne and/or served by Silverthorne’s water utility system.
Water Restriction Penalties
Effective June 10, 2026, water users not complying with the water restrictions in place by the Town of Silverthorne may be subject to the following penalties after first receiving a warning.
- First Conviction: $100
- Second Conviction: $250
- Third Conviction: $500
Ways to Save Water
For more information on how to save water both indoors and outdoors, visit the High Country Conservation Center (HC3) website. HC3 offers rebates for Water Smart lawn assessments, which help residents learn how to save water and improve lawn conditions, as well as for water-efficiency upgrades.
How Silverthorne is Restricting Water Use
The Town of Silverthorne is also looking for ways to reduce water use and will be following Phase 3 Water restrictions in non-essential spaces, such as green spaces around Town buildings and in medians. Silverthorne will continue to maintain the Town’s key places for public enjoyment and safety, and to preserve public assets such as Rainbow Park and other essential sports fields in Town, which must be maintained to a minimum standard for use.
Thank You
The Town of Silverthorne thanks the community for following Phase 3 Water Restrictions as we work together to protect our water resources. Town Staff and the Silverthorne Town Council will continue to assess water conditions and will announce further water restrictions as needed.
